OF MOTHERS AND SONS

I would put my money on it.

 

If Hillary were not a Clinton, she would be an absolute shoo-in for POTUS. 

 

On the other hand, If Hillary were not a Clinton, she would not be where she is now, with a good shot at being POTUS.

 

A classic case of damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.

Humor me.

Allow me for a moment to indulge in the fantasy that I in fact have certain insights regarding politics, geopolitics, and all that. Don’t take my word for it though, just give a little space for my conceit. 

 

First let’s discuss politics, elections to be precise. In case anyone is still unaware, there is an electoral process in the works. It has been underway for too long, which so far, makes it seem more like a drawn-out popularity contest instead of a milestone election, and it is not entirely clear what it all means or where we are going with this.

HORSE-TRADING AT THE FED

As an asset class, stocks are long overdue for a comeback.

Yes there was a very good five-year run that started in 2002, when the smart money went in after the dot.com bubble bust. But in general terms, the real money was not being made in stocks per-se. The fortunes were made speculating in securitized real estate derivatives.
